Community Volunteers Project

Background

Volun-tees started at the University in 2003 as the Community Volunteers Project which aimed to promote volunteering opportunities in the local community. In its' first year, there were 45 organisations registered and 200 student volunteers.

Since then, the scheme has developed into Volun-tees, with the introduction of our on-line website to help support organisations and University volunteers. We now have over 200 organisations registered, promoting 425 opportunities to over 2000 registered volunteers. We have expanded our scheme to help volunteers to enhance their employability skills by linking in opportunities to academic programmes of study and with our latest introduction of the VIP (Volun-tees Impact Programme). Through the VIP Boards, we hope to develop their skills even further with Volunteers themselves leading and developing opportunities both within the University and the voluntary/community sector.

We are committed to supporting voluntary and community organisations, and providing our volunteers with the best service possible.
