
Volunteering Awards 2024
Our Volun-Cheers Celebration Event will take place on the evening of Thursday 2 May 2024 and will celebrate, our volunteers who have contributed to university and community projects. The deadline date for adding hours for this years Awards is Friday 5 April 2024. Any hours added after this date will not be counted for this year’s awards. For those students who have achieved an award this year – Congratulations! You should by now, have received an invitation to attend the Volun-Cheers Event – please return your completed attendance form by Friday 19th April at the very latest. Please note, this in an invitation only event and we cannot accept late attendance replies to the event, due to planning constraints. We look forward to welcoming our award winners to the event on 2nd May.

The Tees Heritage Walk 2024
The Tees Heritage Walk 2024 will take place on Sunday 12 May from 8.30 am, starting at Middlesbrough College. The Tees Heritage Walk 2024 not only celebrates the rich history of our region but also serves as a meaningful way to contribute to the community.

Tees Valley Festivals – Big Get Together
Taking place on Sunday 14 April, between 2.00 – 5.00 pm, 9 Silver Street Stockton-on-Tees. Young at Heart ULO CIC
Volunteers are required to support the delivery of meaningful activities to a group of people living with dementia or their carers. May include small group/1:1 support .You'll love working with the group members as no two sessions are ever the same. There is a diverse range of personalities who attend and getting to know each of them, listening to their stories, sharing activities with them, connecting with them is the most amazing feeling. You'll leave each session knowing that what you have done in that short time has made a huge difference not only to the people living with dementia but also their carers who benefit from accessing the carer support group or respite.

Together Talks Telephone Befriending service is designed to promote health and wellbeing, and alleviate loneliness and isolation, by giving everyone within Bradford District the opportunity to make new connections through regular conversation. We aim to make the client feel better and happier and know that they are not alone. Looking for volunteers to phone Befriendee’s at their home for around 10 -30 minutes. You will arrange the exact times of your future calls direct with the Befriendee’s. This could range from once a day to once a week, but individual needs will be matched with your availability

Children’s Oral Health Educators
You will visit childcare organisations in your local area and host an interactive session to promote why it is so important to look after our teeth and how we can do so. All teaching resources will be supplied for you and sent 2 weeks prior to the booked session, this includes a mouth model to demonstrate good brushing, a t-shirt, leaflets/stickers/posters and a tube of toothpaste plus a toothbrush for every child seen.

Ideal for people who love to get out and about. Very flexible role in terms of time commitment. The service is door to door you will use your own car to transport passengers to and from medical appointments or social activities. Many of the clients that use this service are elderly and suffer from a range of disabilities needing extra assistance. Mileage is paid at 45p per mile.

Volunteer Sitter
This role is perfect for a friendly, chatty person who is willing to give up to 2 hours a week to allow a person’s regular carer to have a break away from their caring role.
You will not be expected to provide any nursing care, just keep the client comfortable and interact with them. This allows the carer to have time to themselves.

Social Lights Volunteer (Adult Social Care)
To help people with varying support needs, such as learning disabilities, autism, or mental health difficulties, and other barriers, to access their community and build confidence along the way. Volunteers will be matched with a client, and will meet up at a public space, whether that be a coffee shop, library, community centre etc, and spend time getting to know them and supporting them with whatever activities they would like to do. The schedule of meetups will be decided by volunteer and client and can be flexible to suit your needs (eg: 1 hour per week, varying days/times each week). We aim to match people based on what interests they have, to give volunteers a chance to share their skills and interests with others. Whether it is going for a coffee, or a walk, an event or an activity, every little meet up has such a positive impact.
