We are looking for student volunteers to help us support new students in feeling welcome at Teesside when they first arrive and during their first year at university.

What You'll Do:

You will help out with our meet and greet service when students are first arriving from the airport onto campus. You will also attend our welcome and induction events to support students over the first few weeks and months of their arrival in Teesside, to help them navigate their new environment and help them settle in and feel at home.

Why You'll Love It:
You get to meet lots of new people from a variety of different backgrounds and differetn cultures. You will be providing them with support at, what can be, a very stressful transition in their lives. This can bring a great sense of wellbeing for both the students and for yourself. You will also get to help out with planning and organising some fun activities and events designed to help students settle in and feel at home here in Teesside.
What You'll Learn:
You will gain a lot of different skills by joining us as a Welcome buddy. Organisation and communication skills, planning and time management. You will have the chance to meet lots of people from different backgrounds and cultures and you will get to hear about the experiences of these students. You will also learn all about the University and local community services so that you are able to pass this onto the stduents who need support in navigating their new environment. We will provide some training on this before you start.
What We're Looking For:
Our main requirment is that you are enthusiastic and willing to get involved in our activities and events. We'd really like to hear from students who enjoy meeting and helping others, and using your own experiences of just starting university, to empathise with and support our new students.
