What You'll Do: 

Inpatient Meal Time Support Volunteer

 

Department: Facilities

Location: Teesside Hospice, 1 Northgate Road, Linthorpe, Middlesbrough TS5 5NW

Time Requirement: Mondays to Saturdays 10.30am to 1.30pm and 3.30pm to 6.00pm. Sundays 4.00pm to 6.00pm

DBS Check needed? Yes

Age Requirements: 18 Plus

 

Role Summary: We are looking for volunteers to assist our kitchen staff in general kitchen tasks and in delivering meals and refreshments to our patients. We are looking for volunteers that are able to help us during the times listed opposite. This role requires someone with good communication and empathy skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • To deliver meals and refreshments to our patients
  • To set up trays and push the trolley to the inpatient Unit
  • To provide a warm, friendly, compassionate and sensitive service
  • Good communication skills to be able to communicate to patients, families and staff in a respectful and courteous manner

Training requirements:

As a IPU Meal Support Volunteer you will complete the following training:

  • Teesside Hospice mandatory training
  • Volunteer induction training
  • Any other training identified as appropriate to the role

 

Support and supervision:

You will assisted by our Facilities team leaders who will ensure that you have all the  support you require to carry out the role.

 

Communications:

The Facilities team leaders will regularly provide you with any information updates, training opportunities and upcoming events appropriate to your role.

You will be provided with a Teesside Hospice volunteer badge
