No training given, flexible role, done individually or in small groups

What You'll Do: 

Visit one of our 3 Partner Museums 

 

* Hopetown - Darlington

* Preston Park Museum and Grounds - Stockton

* Locomotion - Shildon

 

(all accessible on the Bishop Auckland to Saltburn rail line from Middlesbrough Railway Station - rail tickets provided)

 

Meet up with the projects Volunteer Coordinator at a site and to spend time looking at the exhibits and artefacts to select, photograph and review a museum object, exhibition or event for the S&DR26 miles project. 

 

This can take place one morning or afternoon every few months or as and when, as we can be flexible. This can be done individually or as part of a small group of coursemates or friends. 

 

Museum object reviews have included Locomotion No.1, Deltic 55, Artifical Limb, Stockton old clock, Firemans helmet

The Museum objects are your choice  You can do additional reseach about the object to lengthern your review or just tell us why you liked it volunteering can be flexible to do a one off at one site or you may wish to do a batch of objects at each site helping us to ensure we have a catalogue of reviews ready to post each month You don't have to know a lot about history, the sites or the local area
What You'll Learn: 
You will learn more about the objects, the museums collections, how museums promote their objects in a collections adnd marketing way    
What We're Looking For: 
Students who are willing to travel (can be covered) students who like to visit museums or local heritage structures
