Action Champions provide flexible, task‑based support wherever it’s needed. There is no fixed time commitment - volunteers help when they can.

What You'll Do:

MEC aims to be greater than the sum of its parts, and the Action Volunteer role fits this perfectly. These volunteers support work across different teams, projects and events, stepping in where extra capacity or a helping hand makes the most difference.

Activities vary widely and may include practical outdoor tasks, supporting events or community activities, or assisting with small but important jobs that keep projects running smoothly. The opportunity suits people who enjoy variety and are happy to say, “I can help with that.”

Responsibilities depend entirely on the task at hand. Action Volunteers turn up, contribute to the best of their ability, and support the team to complete whatever is needed safely and effectively.

Why You'll Love It:
As an Action Volunteer, you’ll gain experience across a wide range of activities, building confidence, practical skills and a clear understanding of how MEC’s projects operate day-to-day. You’ll develop flexibility, teamwork and problem‑solving abilities, and have the chance to try different tasks to discover what you enjoy most. It’s a varied opportunity that builds transferable skills, and for some volunteers it can act as a stepping stone into more specialist volunteer opportunities across MEC.
What You'll Learn:
All volunteers receive core training. For events and one‑off tasks, the staff lead will always provide a clear briefing before you begin, so you know what’s expected and how to carry out the task safely and with the most impact.
What We're Looking For:
Nothing more or less than our THRIVE values - tenacious, holistic, responsible, innovative, visionary and empowering.
