BrightBites is an oral health education initiative for children up to 11 years old, the purpose of the programme is to raise awareness to children about the importance of good oral health through an interactive presentation.

What You'll Do:

You will visit childcare organisations in your local area and host an interactive session to promote why it is so important to look after our teeth and how we can do so. All teaching resources will be supplied for you and sent 2 weeks prior to the booked session, this includes a mouth model to demonstrate good brushing, a t-shirt, leaflets/stickers/posters and a tube of toothpaste plus a toothbrush for every child seen.

Why You'll Love It:
This is a very rewarding opportunity, delivering a much-needed project to help educate children on good oral health, in the hope of reducing the current concerning volume of children requiring teeth extractions.
What You'll Learn:
This is an opportunity for volunteers to acquire new skills, such as: - Confidence to deliver a presentation in front of an audience. - Relationship-building skills and building up a rapport with prospective schools/childcare settings while communicating to book sessions. - You will get some background from your audience on what they currently do for their oral health.
What We're Looking For:
We need volunteers who are willing to go along to their local nurseries, schools, childcare settings & organisations that work with young children and their families to deliver the project. We would really like to target areas of high social deprivation where the oral health needs of children are often greater, therefore we are relying on volunteer’s local knowledge to target these areas. We would like volunteers to get in touch with the settings to offer to go along and deliver the BrightBites programme.
