The Community Development and Cohesion Workers from Middlesbrough North are in need of support. They are completing a door knocking exercise in the Newport area of Middlesbrough and are talking to peoples about their environment.

What You'll Do:

You will be trained and will assist the Community Development and Cohesion workers in the environment door knocking work. Specifically you will be knocking on people's doors, in the Newport area. Talking to the residents about their alleyways and recycling. You will have a questionnaire to complete with them and you will need to issue some advice and guidance (leaflets).

The aim is to find out from residents their thoughts on the alleyways and to educate around recycling. Some residents are not recycling and not using the alleyways and shared bins correctly.

You will also have the opportunity to discuss any other issues they are facing in their street/home.

You will not be completing this on your own, door knocking is done in pairs and you will gain some training to do this task.

There's alot of houses to visit across Newport, a good start has been made but we need support in completing this over the coming months.

We have a day of door knocking planned on the 22nd and 29th May. WE NEED HELP URGENTLY ON THESE DAYS PLEASE!!

Why You'll Love It:
You will love being outdoors, talking to people and providing them with a listening ear. You will enjoy finding out what issues people have in the area and explaining to those without understanding, what to do regarding recycling and rubbish collections. You will be helping to support our workers but also the community. We are working towards creating a better living environment for people and need those in the community (who are perhaps not aware of what to do) to understand so that people's streets and homes are a more pleasant environment.
What You'll Learn:
You will learn new skills and will learn alot about the local community to the university and what people think about the issues they are faced with. You will also learn more about council processes.
What We're Looking For:
We need friendly, reliable and enthusistic people to join us in completing what is a big task across Newport (Middlesbrough North). We need students who are able to devote time during the week to complete this (times between 9-4pm)
