Hardwick Roseworth Scout Group
Scouting actively engages and supports young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
ABOUT US:

We are a new Scouts group for the Hardwick and Roseworth area of Stockton-On-Tees. We opened the group in February 2023 after realising that the provision for youth organisations in the area is poor.

We work with children aged 6 - 10 years old (Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts) at the moment, with hopes to extend that to include Squirrel Scouts (aged 4 - 6 years old) and Scouts (aged 10 - 14 years old).

We meet on a weekly basis, during term time where we deliver a programme of activities and games which are designed to be fun and help the children grow in to active members of their community.

We have a small, friendly team of volunteers who are all trained in planning and delivering the programme, but we always welcome new ideas and people who are happy to pitch in and enjoy the company of the children.

As a volunteer you can get involved as much as you want to. If you would like to gain experience of taking part in activities and working with children, we will provide you with a DBS and all the training you need, free of charge. If you then decide that you would like to undertake further training to become a Leader yourself, we will provide all training for you to achieve that.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

The area where our group is based is a deprived area and we decided to launch the group when we learned that there are very few opportunities for young children to be involved in any activities or groups that are based in their local community. We held an Open Event to gauge local interest and were overwhelmed with the attendance. Parents have been very supportive and vocal about the need for such community groups in the area.

We try to involve the community as much as we can by involving the children and parents in planning and organising local events. We are working to make our group known and seen in the community. We hope to give the children of the area pride in their community, a sense of belonging and skills that they will take forward throughout their lives.

We can promise that you will have fun and a sense of fulfillment knowing that you are helping the children enjoy themselves, make friends and learn skills that will last a lifetime. All adult volunteers and children alike create memories that they will talk about for years to come!
