Scouts
By 2025 we'll have prepared more young people with skills for life, supported by amazing volunteers that deliver an inspiring programme. We'll be growing, more inclusive, shaped by young people and making a bigger impact in our communities. Scouting actively engages and supports young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
ABOUT US:

We work with children and young people;

-  4 - 6 Years old; Squirrels

- 6 - 8 Years olds; Beavers

- 8-10 1/2 Years olds; Cubs

- 10 1/2 - 14 Years old; Scouts

- 14 - 18 Years old; Explorers

- 18 - 25 Years old; Network

Groups will meet on a weekly basis, during term time and deliver a programme of activities and games which are designed to be fun and support children and young people to try new things and grow into active members of their community.

To support the running of these youth groups each have a small, friendly team of volunteers who are all trained in planning and delivering the programme, but we always welcome new ideas and people who are happy to pitch in and enjoy volunteering together.

As a volunteer you can get involved as much as you want to. If you would like to gain experience of taking part in activities and working with children, we will provide you with a DBS and all the training you need, free of charge. If you then decide that you would like to undertake further training to become a Leader yourself, we will provide all training for you to achieve that.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Many groups across the North East are based in a deprived area and were launched to provide young people, volunteers and the community opportunities to be involved in any activities or groups that are based in their local community. Volunteers will be working closely with communities and local areas to gain local interest. As well as communities and young people volunteers will work closely with the Young people's Parents / Grown ups as they play a key role to offer supprt in the running of community groups in the area.

We try to involve the community as much as we can by involving the children and parents in planning and organising local events. We are working to make our group known and seen in the community. We hope to give the children of the area pride in their community, a sense of belonging and skills that they will take forward throughout their lives.

At Scouts we can promise that you will have fun and a sense of fulfillment knowing that you are helping the children enjoy themselves, make friends and learn skills that will last a lifetime. All adult volunteers and children alike create memories that they will talk about for years to come!
