Family Time Supervised Contact Volunteer

Family Time volunteers to support families accessing supervised contact in Stockton. Working in partnership with our staff team, volunteers would meet and greet families, ensuring a positive first impression and a smooth transition into Family Time.

What You'll Do: 

Family Time volunteers help families who are accessing Family Time (supervised contact) within Stockton. Family time is delivered in a main centre, in local venues such as Family Hubs and in the community. Working in partnership with our staff team, volunteers would meet and greet families to the centre, ensuring they have a positive first impression and a smooth transition into Family Time. Volunteers may also attend Family Time sessions alongside staff members to provide additional supervision, especially with larger family groups or where a targeted group session maybe occurring, for example, baby massage.

You will be helping the children and their families who attend Family Time to have a positive experience of the service. Helping to provide them with consistency, stability and a welcoming space.   Our Family Time volunteers help family members to engage in the Family Time sessions by providing information and practical help such as sourcing resources, etc for sessions.  Our volunteers maintain the safety of children attending the centre through allowing high levels of supervision to occur.   Volunteers improve the experience for families accessing the venue by ensuring rooms are welcoming, well resourced with age appropriate toys and are tidy.

Family Action volunteers tell us that volunteering with us can be challenging at times, but it is also very rewarding.  Many of our Volunteers also report that volunteering has helped them with: Being part of a team and becoming a part of Family Action, a national charity with 150 years of experience supporting families. You will receive support and guidance from project coordinator including 1-1 and group supervision. You will be able to access regular training and development opportunities. Opportunity to improve future employment prospects, for example in Family Support or related areas. There are opportunities to develop new skills; increased confidence and self-esteem. You will be making a difference to the lives of people in your community. All Family Action volunteers receive full training and access to ongoing supervision and support as long as they are in the role. 
What We're Looking For: 
There is no typical Family Action volunteer. We want our volunteers to be as diverse as the people we support. We need volunteers with a range of life experiences, skills and knowledge too. In return for giving your time and talents, you will receive quality training, ongoing support, and the reward of knowing that you are making a real difference.    This role will particularly suit volunteers who are: Empathetic, non-judgemental and good at listening. Good at building positive, trusting relationships. Passionate about improving outcomes for family members. Are able to understand the complex challenges our families face. Can demonstrate commitment, reliability and consistency. Are able to keep accurate records. Understanding of the need for confidentiality when working with vulnerable families. Willing to abide by Family Action’s policies and procedures.
