Working within the Wellbeing Centre (WBC) at Teesside Hospice.

What You'll Do:

The WBC is for individuals who have a life limiting illness who are currently independent but require support and skills to live their lives to the full. We run various support groups with the aim to increase self-esteem, confidence, low mood, improve symptoms to name a few. The individuals who attend are from a mix of ages and have various conditions, not just cancer. We would value any student who wants to improve their communication skills. We would want students to help by talking to the individuals who attend and assisting the staff with any jobs that need going to ensure the group runs smoothly for example, welcoming patients, making them a drink, talking to them etc.

Why You'll Love It:
You will gain experience in how to communicate effectively with people of all ages at various stages in their illness and hopefully improve their communication skills too.
What You'll Learn:
You will learn skills in team working as you will work alongside the WBC staff and how to be a productive member of any work force. You will gain confidence in yourself by coming into a new and unknown environment which will help you when going into the workplace. We hope that you would also learn more about yourself as a person and discover skills that you didn't realise you already have.
What We're Looking For:
An enthusiastic communicator  No specific IT skills are required above and beyond that of standard use of Microsoft Office applications such as word, excel, powerpoint etc.
